Châteauneuf Du Pape Rouge
Domaines des Saumades was made in 1995 by Frank Mousset, a winemaker with significant winemaking pedigree. Certainly, his grandfather was the past due Louis Mousset, who converted Château des Fines Roches into probably one of the most effective negoçiants in the Rhône. Leveraging his ancestry and a lifelong immersion in the artwork of winemaking, Mousset today crafts glorious wines created from a number of the Châteauneuf du Pape’s many popular grape types. At 2.25 hectares, Saumades may be the smallest domaine in the AOC. The vintner is ready, because of this, to pay careful attention to fine detail and his stamp of authorization switches into every wines, of which no more than 500 instances are produced yearly.
The tiny 5 acre vineyard of Saumades is situated in the center from the Chateauneuf du Pape vineyard area, with pretty sandy soils and just a few from the large Galets stones that the region is famous. It rests next to the popular sites of Pegau and La Roquette.
Grapes are hand-harvested in little bins, in that case loaded into open-top cement vats for temperatures controlled fermentation and maceration.
